Since the launch of the AFA in 2018, we have been hard at work for our members. In less than two years, we are proud to report on some of our more notable achievements:

  • Has participated in the Coronial Inquest into Deaths at Music Festivals as an interested party to ensure industry context was considered

  • Co-chaired a legislated roundtable with Government and Industry Music Festival representatives and have 4 of the 10 Industry seats at that table

  • Have been called to give evidence at the Senate Select Committee Hearing into the Federal Government’s handling of COVID-19

  • Alongside the Australian Music Industry Network, launched the ilostmygig website, receiving 12,000 submissions in just over 4 weeks

  • Holds a position on the Executive Committee of the newly established Live Entertainment Forum (LEIF)

  • General Manager is on the Mass Gathering Collaboration Strategic Advisory Network.

  • General Manager is a Music Australia Councillor

  • Has received funding from NSW Health to develop Harm Minimisation Training

    programs for festival staff, suppliers and patrons

  • Is included in Industry Roundtables across the country, contributing to the

    sector on behalf of our members

The Australian Festival Association (AFA) represents the shared interests and importance of the Australian festival industry and wider community events as a not-for-profit, membership-based industry association. We are committed to delivering safe, well-run festivals around Australia and providing a framework for industry operating standards.
